RGCMS has established a Research & Development Committee in order to promote research activities among students and faculty of the college. The R&D committee aims to provide a platform to students, academicians, researchers and business practitioners to discuss the rapidly changing business practices.
R&D Objectives and Functions

- To create awareness and opportunities in research among the faculty & students.
- To create interest and atmosphere among the faculty and students to take up research projects.
- To ensure smooth and effective functioning of research activities.
- To promote multidisciplinary academic as well as industry-oriented research.

- To identify the potential areas of research in various disciplines of management.
- To develop R&D strategy in accordance with the college strategic plan.
- To prepare and submit proposals to government agencies for obtaining funded projects.
- To encourage multi-disciplinary research internally within the institute and externally with other organizations.
- Encourage faculty to publish papers in various National/International conferences of their specialized areas.
- To coordinate the research activities of the college.
- Encourage faculty to attend various research oriented Faculty development programmes.
- Encourage and motivate the faculty to apply for PhD.
- To encourage faculty and students to publish their research works in reputed journals that have good impact factor and are Scopus indexed.
- To plan for resource mobilization through industry interaction and consultancy.
- To help the library maintain a repository of all the published research papers and case studies.

- To promote research culture among students and faculty in the field of management and allied areas
- Objectives
- To encourage original quality research in the fields of management, commerce, industry and other relevant fields.
- To identify the emerging areas of research and encourage the faculty members to undertake research in these areas.
- To provide financial assistance for publication of research papers and research findings.
- To organize various workshops to develop appropriate research skills among the scholars and faculty members.
- To establish suitable infrastructure in the college that will help to undertake different research projects.
- To encourage the faculty members & students for research initiatives in the form of paper presentations in conferences at national & international level.
- To undertake various study/research/sponsored projects in coordination with the Industry.
- To ensure the importance of academic integrity and the pursuit of quality in research.
- To encourage faculty members for Doctoral research by establishing a Research center.
- To undertake all other such activities which will inculcate research culture in the college.
- Research Funding and Approvals
- The Institute allocates seed money of Rs. 225000/- per annum which is utilized for research related activities.
- Leave availed for research activity will be treated as Duty Leave.
- The institute offers financial assistance to faculty and students for undertaking research projects, attending conferences, seminars, workshops and publishing/ presenting research papers.
- Publication of research papers in UGC-CARE Journals or indexed in SCI/Scopus will be appreciated and rewarded with Rs. 7500/- for the main author and Rs. 3000/- for the co-authors. Publication of research papers in PEER REVIEWED Journals with high impact factor will be appreciated and rewarded with Rs. 2000/- for the main author and Rs. 1000/- for the co-authors. Publication of research papers in RJBMR Journal will be appreciated and rewarded with Rs. 1000/- for the main author.
- Each faculty/student will be sanctioned up to Rs.2,000/- (Rs. 1000/- for each activity) per year for attending SWAYAM, AICTE, ATAL, NITTT etc. subject to recommendation by the R&D committee and approval by the Director of college. (Maximum of two such activities will be sponsored per year)
- Publication of books will be appreciated and rewarded with Rs. 5000/- for a main author and Rs. 2000/- for the co-authors. Book editors and co-editors will be rewarded Rs. 2000/-, and Rs.1000/- respectively. Chapter authors will be rewarded Rs. 1,000/-
- National Patent done by faculty will be appreciated and rewarded with Rs. 6000/-(With Grant) and 3,000/ (Without grant)- for a principal inventor and Rs. 3000/-(With Grant) and 1,500/ (Without grant)- for the co-inventors/contributors
- International Patent done by faculty will be appreciated and rewarded with ,Rs. 8,000/- (With grant), Rs. 4,000/-(Without grant) for a principal inventor (International) and Rs. 4000/-(With Grant) and Rs. 2,000/- (Without grant)- for the co-inventors/contributors
- Each faculty/student attending such conferences, Seminars, Presenting/ publishing papers, FDP, workshop, training etc. will submit certificates for the same to the Research & Development Committee.
- If the faculty has availed the full sanction of the year and proposes to attend the said events beyond sanctioned amount, special approval is sought from the Director for the same. The said decision will be taken in all fairness and with equal justice to all faculty members.
- At the end of the Academic year faculty members and students will be felicitated for their contribution in research activity on the recommendation of R&D committee and approval by the director.
- 50% of Individual Professional membership fees (Annual/ Lifetime) or Rs. 2,000/- whichever is less (membership from registered organizations in the area of Education, Research and Industry & Commerce).

1. Orientation of students
The orientation session on Building a Research Ecosystem was conducted on 15th October 2024 from 1 PM to 2 PM at G-2, with Dr. Radhika Wadhera as the Research Coordinator. The session aimed to familiarize FYMMS students with the objectives and functions of the Research and Development Committee. The scope and importance of research were discussed, emphasizing its role in academic and professional growth. A key highlight of the session was a discussion on how developing a research mindset fosters critical and analytical skills, essential for problem-solving and decision-making. Additionally, Research Policy 2024 was explained in detail, ensuring students understood the guidelines and opportunities available for their research journey.
2. Seminar on Citation and Reference Style.
The Seminar on Citation and Reference Style was conducted on 14th August 2024 from 8 PM to 9 PM via Google Meet. The objective was to orient students on the importance of referencing and citation styles in academic writing.
Dr. Dinesh Gabhane led the session, explaining the concepts, types, and significance of referencing and citation, with a special focus on AAA style. He provided a practical demonstration of how to use citation tools in Microsoft Word and discussed their application in SIP (Summer Internship Project) reports. Additionally, the scope of research and its relevance in academic and professional growth were highlighted.
A total of 56 SYMMS students attended the session, actively engaging in discussions and clarifying their doubts. The seminar was highly beneficial in enhancing students’ understanding of academic integrity and research documentation.
3. Seminar on Use of AI in Academic Writing
The orientation session on the Use of AI in Academic Writing was conducted on 24th October 2024 from 9:30 AM to 11:15 AM at G Meet and G2, with Dr. S.B. Kishor as the resource person. The session aimed to introduce students to AI-powered tools that enhance research and academic writing. A total of 100 students attended, with 84 joining via Digital Panel from G2 and others participating through G Meet. Dr. Kishor provided a hands-on demonstration of various AI applications used in research, including citation generation, content structuring, and plagiarism detection. The session was highly interactive, allowing students to explore these tools in real-time, improving their understanding of AI’s role in academic excellence.
4. Session on Use of AI in Academic Writing
The Session on Use of AI in Academic Writing was held on 24th October 2024 in a hybrid format, with 138 participants. Dr. S.B. Kishor, the Resource Person, discussed research ethics, citation practices, and AI tools in academic writing. He emphasized plagiarism prevention, proper referencing (MLA, APA), and AI-driven research techniques. Participants engaged in hands-on citation exercises and learned about AI tools for content creation and plagiarism detection. The session concluded with a Q&A, providing insights into ethical AI usage and enhancing research integrity.
5. Appreciation Ceremony
RGCMS organized the Appreciation Ceremony 2024-2025 to acknowledge and celebrate the research contributions of students and staff. The Research & Development (R&D) Committee has been actively promoting research activities, providing a platform for students, academicians, researchers, and business practitioners to engage in discussions on evolving business practices.
The event was attended by staff and students, who were recognized for their remarkable achievements in research. This year, the faculty published 23 research papers in SCOPUS, UGC Care, and peer-reviewed journals, along with the publication of four books. Additionally, 83 students successfully contributed to research by publishing 23 papers in peer-reviewed journals and RJBMR.
The ceremony served as an inspiration for aspiring researchers, reinforcing the importance of academic excellence and innovation in business research.
6. Webinar on “Student Development Program on “Writing Research Papers”
The seminar on Writing Research Papers was held on 30th January 2025 at G-2, organised by the R&D Committee, with 75 participants. Ms. Aakanksha Sunil Kumar (SYMMS, MBA) was the Resource Person, guiding students on the art of writing research papers. The session saw active participation, with attendees engaging in discussions and asking insightful questions. A Certificate of Appreciation was awarded to the Resource Person. Feedback was collected and analyzed, reflecting the seminar’s effectiveness in enhancing research writing skills.
7. Workshop: Transforming ideas into Case Studies
The Research & Development (R&D) Committee organized workshop on Transforming ideas into Case Studies with an objective to encourage Case Study teaching pedagogy in RGCMS. Prof. (Dr.) C. Babu was invited as a Resource Person for conducting the Workshop on . He is the Director of Durgadevi Saraf Institute of Management Studies (DSIMS), with a Ph.D. and MBA in Management with over 34 years of experience, who has written 32 caselets and 11 Articles for classroom discussions. Certificates were awarded to all Participants. Feedback was taken and analyzed
